The Bemidji State men’s hockey team (5-6-5; 2-4-4-2 WCHA) continues WCHA play this weekend as it hosts the University of Alaska-Anchorage (1-11-4; 1-6-3-3 WCHA) to wrap up the first half of the 2017-18 season. With the Beavers seeking their first league win since Nov. 4, the series versus the Seawolves may be just what the doctor ordered. BSU has surrendered just one loss to UAA in the last 17 meetings.

Beavers and Wildcats tie 4-4, NMU takes shootout
Bemidji State and Northern Michigan needed extra time to decide the the outcome of Saturday's series finale. With the score tied 4-4 after 65 minutes of play and a 3-on-3 exhibition period, NMU's Robbie Payne scored on the Wildcats' first shootout attempt and goaltender Mathias Israelsson shut the door on the other end to earn the extra point in the WCHA standings.

Wildcats’ short-handed goal bites Bemidji State in double overtime
In a tie game where open ice was hard to find, Northern Michigan University defender Jordan Klimek broke away from the pack and beat Bemidji State University goaltender Michael Bitzer five hole with 1:58 left to in the second overtime to give the Wildcats an extra point in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association standings to open the league series.
